- Typical torque curves, need of gears, protection of drives
- Choose of the suitable drive (max current, power losses, temperature)
- Operation principle, structure and applications of DC motors. Control of DC drive.
- Operation principle, structure and applications of synchronous machines (permanent magnet machine). Control of synhronous motor drive.
- Operation principle, structure and applications of induction motors. Start-up methods of induction motor. Scalar control (U/f-control, Volts/Hz-control) of induction motor.

- Effect of thyristor-rectifer to grid power quality.
- Operation principle, structure and applications of reluctance machine.
